The UEFA Women’s Champions League schedule spans over close to a year. The qualification rounds usually starts in August – with 40 teams being divided into ten groups of four through a draw. The most succesful teams from each group will move on into the UEFA Women’s Champions League round of 32.
The round of 32 usually follows in October, and the round of 16 in November. Then follows a winter break before the Quarter-finals, played somwhere around March. Semi finals follows about one month later – and the big final is usually played in May.
The format of UEFA Women’s Champions League
Standard procedure for the UEFA Women’s Champions League is that 40 teams compete in the qualification round. The most succesful teams from each group will then move on into the UEFA Women’s Champions League round of 32.
Starting from the round of 32, UEFA Women’s Champions League goes into a knockout phase. In the round of 32 and the round of 16, the top ranked half of the teams are seeded. The seeded teams are drawn against the unseeded teams, and teams from the same association can not be drawn against each other. In the draws for quarter-finals and semi-finals there are no seedings, and teams from the same associations can be drawn against each other.
